About

Train Enjoy Eating (Tr.E.E.)  is an 11-days  Youth Exchange program that will gather 36 young people from 6 European countries to discuss and learn about food, nutrition and well-being.

The participants will have the opportunity to question their eating habits, to learn more about food and nutrition, and to improve their relationship towards food in general. They will also have the opportunity to discover new cultures and improve soft skills through non-formal education practices.

What is the goal of this project?

During this project, we will use food and cooking as a common playground where young people from different cultural and personal backgrounds can meet, share, learn each other's cultures, cooperate and train soft skills. Cooking is a simple activity that everybody does and that is accessible to everyone.

Throughout the exchange, we mean to use food to improve the participants well-being through different activities involving cooking, discovering different eating habits, improving one’s knowledge on eating disorders.

Participants while going through the program can identify different areas of improvement and choose to work on them according to their needs and interests. Nevertheless, the possible outcomes connected with the main topics of the project can be:

  • Learning more about gastronomy from the different countries involved.

  • Developing some knowledge about nutrition, and how to take care of yourself and to assume a healthy, balanced and sustainable lifestyle.

  • Having a healthier, more balanced and more conscious eating behaviours

  • Improving your  language skills, both in English and French and potentially also in the other languages of the project.

  • Developing your teamwork skills in an international environment

  • Developing the ability to speak in public and to lead non-formal educational activities.

  • Having a better cultural awareness regarding the countries involved in the project.

WHEN & HOW ?

During this project, participants will be involved in non-formal activities like workshops, simulations, assignments, reflections, sharing, games, visits and meetings aimed to train their competences in the field of food, nutrition and well-being and to improve their soft skills.

The exchange will focus on the relationship we have with food and alimentation in general : understanding the basics of nutrition, how we can improve our diet, cooking simple and healthy meals, and more generally, how to achieve a more healthy lifestyle. Cooking workshops, physical activities, games, visits or discussion times will be used to stimulate the development of soft skills (communication, time management, cooperation, pro-active attitude…).

Expenses

This program is supported by a co-funding of the European Union allocated by the Erasmus + program through the Spanish National Agency. Therefore accommodation, food, materials, the program and the travel costs up to the maximum amount will be covered or reimbursed.

During the exchange phase, each participant contributes by participating in a daily rotation duty system in small groups (cleaning and arranging the common areas, wash the dishes). We believe in taking care of our own spaces and needs.

Keep in mind that this program is based on learning by engagement: as much you get engaged in the activities, as much you allow yourself to learn from it.

Pro-active participation is the key to success. Coming to the program as a receiver will limit the benefit that you can get out of it.

Vagamondo, based in Bergolo, in the south of Piedmont region, in Italy, is an NGO focused on international mobility, non- formal education, youth work and local development. The name Vagamondo comes from the concept of travel as a powerful tool of self-discovery and personal development: it is through direct contact with cultural and personal differences that identity becomes more visible to every individual; it is coming out of the comfort zone, getting involved in new activities, different than the usual ones, that people can identify room to grow and work on themselves.

  • You want to discover more about food, cooking, nutrition, diets & well-being in general

  • You want to train your soft skills while getting actively engaged in non-formal activities for a total of about 10 hours per day

  • You are curious to meet and get to know people different than you for culture, social background, abilities, values, and world views

  • You are able to take an active part in all the phases of the project and in the whole program of the exchange

  • You are able to communicate in simple English (keep in mind that we will use an international simpler version of English if your level is very fluent you may need to simplify your communication in order to be understood)

  • You will not be benefitting from any other Erasmus+ fund during the program in France

Being a national leader is a great opportunity to develop more competences if you already have some experience in youth project and wish to be more involved in the coordination of the project. If you are well-organised, motivated and have a great sense of initiative, this role is for you!

Important to know

Erasmus Plus projects are great opportunities to travel, discover new cultures and countries, meet different people and create international relationships without spending a lot of money.

no alcohol.jpg

In order to support the learning process of the participants, drinking alcohol is not allowed during the whole duration of the experience in Amange. If you cannot stay without drinking for 11 days this project is not for you. Also, the use of any kind of drug or substance that has a psychoactive effect on the brain is not allowed. In case you are taking prescribed medications that affect the functioning of your brain let us know in the application form.

Also, if you find itdifficult to spend several days without drinking alcohol, if you are not able to enjoy yourself or connect with people without it, you may want to  have a look at this tool and contact professional support.

In case you are interested in traveling, discovering new places, meeting different people and creating international relationships in a cheap way but not in the topics of the exchange, you cannot actively participate in all the phases of the project or you are not willing to learn about cooking, food, nutrition and to develop your soft skills, it's perfectly fine and we don't get offended. We ask you then not to apply for this program - it may become a not pleasant experience for you - but go for what you really want and make it awesome!

In that case, you may find useful tools like CouchsurfingBlablacar, traditional hitch-hiking, to get inspiration from other travellers through blogs or groups like this one or this one. If you have read all the web page until here and you still want to participate, the "secret code" is : "J'aime le fromage".
